BERTHA WAS A WORKHORSE IN MINISTRY: KADZIRANGE

Church founding principle and the first layleader at Cranborne United Methodist Church Mr Joseph Kadzirange has described the late church founding stalwart Mrs Bertha Mvundura as a dedicated and committed soldier who gave her all in ministry.

Mrs Mvundura passed away in the early hours of Monday 5 October 2020 in the capital at the age of 75.

As condolence messages keep flooding in from within the church and around the world, another of the exclusive class of individuals credited with laying the foundations for the formation of Cranborne Circuit Kadzirange has paid glowing tribute after learning of the passing on of Mrs Mvundura.

“Their son Hati in Canada called us to let us know. Our condolences to Cranborne Circuit,” he said from his base in the United States.

“There is so much to share about Mbuya Bertha Mvundura. My bottom line is that she was a real work horse mumunda waTenzi (in the Lord’s vineyard). She was extravagantly generous in serving the Lord and other people with her time, her talents and her resources with a cheerful heart and spirit,” Kadzirange echoed.

Kadzirange went down memory lane acknowledging her contributions in the church, family and the impact she left on the people around her.

” She loved cooking and baking and was good at it. She served in the Entertainment/Hospitality area at circuit, district and conference levels for over two decades that i am aware of.

Many district and conference meetings were held at St Paul’s and she was always in attendance most weekends.

I always wondered how she managed it. In addition, she was active in “normal” church activities. She still had time for her family and friends among whom my wife and i counted ourselves.

We pray for her family, church and everyone she touched to be conforted and inspired.”

Mrs Mvundura is survived by her husband Amon and four children.

Mourners are gathered at 42 Arlington Road, Logan Park, Harare.

Burial arrangements are still to be finalised as the family await the return of some of the children who are overseas.

The church held a service yesterday (Monday) at the family residence amidst an outpouring of condolences messages from around the world on social media platforms following her untimely demise.
