HISTORIC…AS CRANBORNE MUMC ALBUM GOES FOR 5K
History was made as the Cranborne MUMC Choir launched their second album Jesu Anotida in front of multitudes of musical fans here at Cranborne Circuit this afternoon.
A carnival atmosphere engulfed the home of music as the reigning Zimbabwe East Annual Conference MUMC Music champions put paid to the anxiety that had gripped the nation ahead of the much awaited release with an event for the archives.
Never in the church’s history had an album been launched in such fashion and the men in blue put together a gigantic feast which saw music enthusiasts from different parts of the country coming to celebrate the achievements of the choir.
The event had a sideshow to it with proceeds going towards the purchase of the bus and the theme resonated with guests who did their part in pulling the bit they had to the cause.
The highlight of the event came as Guest of Honour Mr and Mrs Tamangani left the auditorium in awe as they bought the first CD for a whopping $5 000.
Those who followed parted with at least $200 and more just to get the CD as the nine track album received a glowing endorsement.
Some could be seen jostling to their cars to have a listen, with some of the scenes absolutely incredible with latecomers getting into the mood and getting their copies.
The event saw Namatai Chinyerere, Tinotenda Katsande giving well thought and powerful performances on stage with a different feel which caught the imaginations of many.
The four choirs invited – Great Harare, Harare Inner City, Mabelreign South and Zimre Park MUMC Choirs all put up splendid displays keeping the audience on their feet.
What a day it was for the serial music powerhouse with sales expected to continue well into the forthcoming 30th anniversary celebrations and beyond.
